What is your OPA?

I’ve been listening to Anthony Robbin lately, and came across a great audio series. It is all about knowing your OPA – Outcome, Purpose and Action.

I was thinking about how this could be related to Internet Marketing in general, and I realized that this OPA model can be used in nearly ANY situation.

Outcome
Before you even thinks about making a living online, you needs to know your outcome, the ultimate goal, so that you will have something to work towards. If you don’t even know what your goal is, how will you measure your success? An example is that you could set a goal for yourself to earn $3,000/month by the end of Dec 09. Now that you know your Outcome, you need to ask yourself the next question.

Purpose
What is the REASON why you want to achieve your outcome? And it has to be specific – not vague stuff like “Because I want to make more money!” Everybody I know wants to make more money, but what are you going to do with that money? You have to know this, as it will motivate you to actually take the steps required to achieve it. If it is a new car you want, don’t be afraid to admit it. There is nothing wrong in always striving for material gain, but not at the expense of ethics and morals (of course). Your purpose should be something specific like “I want to earn $3,000/month by the end of Dec 09 so that I can have enough to pay for the bills and also invest $500/month into my children’s education trust fund.”

Only when your purpose is specific, than you have a real reason to go all out.

Action
Once you know your outcome and purpose, the next most obvious step is to know what actions is required to achieve them. However, I believe if you have a strong purpose and a well defined outcome, you will overcome any obstacles that come in your way. The WHY always come before the HOW.

When I started in Internet Marketing, I knew I wanted to generate a full-time living online as I wanted to provide for my family and I am sick and tired of being poor all my life. I didn’t know html, php, ftp, list building, SEO, PPC or anything about affiliate marketing at all. Over the years, I’ve read up plenty of resources and asked lots of questions to get to where I am today. Always remember that success comes only to those who take MASSIVE ACTION, and that success a matter of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.
